1636 - Anglo-Dutch Fishing Treaty

This silvered-bronze nineteenth century electrotype copy by Ronald Ready, British Museum, is of the extremely rare cast and chased medal, by Heinrich Reitz the younger, commemorates the treaty between England and Holland by which the Dutch were permitted to fish in British seas in 1636 (MI 278/81). The obverse shows the conjoined busts of Charles I and Henrietta and the reverse Justice with sword and Peace kissing each other; the scales and olive branch are held by infant genius. Thr edge is marked RR. The diameter is 55 mm and the condition about Good Very Fine. A rare opportunity to acquire a copy of this difficult to obtain medal.
