1672 - William III made Stadtholder

This rare silver medal by Christopher Adolfszoon commemorates the making of William, Prince of Orange, Stadtholder of Holland, Zeeland, Utrecht, Gelderland, and Overijssel in the Dutch Republic in 1672. William was sovereign Price of Orange from birth and King of England, Scotland and Ireland from 1689. The Obverse shows the bust of William with cravat and armour. The Latin legend reads, "NEC SORTE NEC FATO". The reverse shows the armoured figure of Holland, to the right an orange tree and left a bird raising from the flames. The diameter is 57 mm and the condition Extremely Fine.
