1665 - Duke of York, Naval Victories against Holland

This rare and impressive silver medal by John Roettier commemorates the great naval victory at the Battle of Lowestoft on the 3 June 1665 and was used as a naval reward (MI i 505/143). The obverse carries the bust of James, Duke of York, later King James II. The reverse show an antique trophy, in the distant a naval engagement. The diameter is 63 mm and the condition better than Extremely Fine. This is a very good example of this medal.
