1802 - Peace of Amien SOLD

This rare bronze medal by J. G.Hancock commemorates the Peace of Amiens which was made on the 27th March 1802 by the Marquis of Cornwall for England, Joseph Bonaparte for France, Azara for Spain and Schimmelpenninck for Holland (BHM 541). The obverse show George III, the reigning British monarch, in Roman dress being crowned with a laurel wreath by Victory. The peace was celebrated in St Paul's Cathedral, London, on the 1st June in the same year. The reverse commemorates this event and shows a view of the Cathedral. The diameter is 49 mm and the condition better than Extremely Fine.
