1765 - Austria: Imperial Visit to Innsbruck SOLD

This impressive silver medal by A Wideman commemorates the Imperial Austrian visit to Innsbruck which commenced on the 15th July 1765. The obverse shows Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor; his wife Maria Theresa of Austria; Joseph II, Crown Prince of Austria; and his wife Maria Josefa of Bavaria. The reverse shows the triumphant arch with the streets of Innsbruck behind. During this visit Francis I died in a coach returning from the opera. The diameter is 47 mm. The condition is about Extremely Fine. A rare collectors item. Payment by bank transfer or Stirling, Euro or Dollar cheque or PayPal with an extra charge of £18. This medal has been sold.
