1914 - 1918: WWI, Italian Red Cross SOLD

This impressive and very large deeply struck silver medal designed by Tonnaghi and Cadruggio (?) was awarded to the benefactors of the Italian Red Cross during the First World War. The obverse shows the female figure of the Red Cross, on a hillside, being adored by Italian solders, some wounded, others on horseback and one holding a flag. The diameter is 68 mm and the condition Extremely Fine. This medal has been sold.
