1914 - WWI, Auguste Victoria SOLD

This silver medal by Grunthal Verl commemorates the work of Auguste Victoria, wife of Wilhelm II, Emperor of Prussia, for the Red Cross at the start of World War I. Empress Auguste Victoria became the head of the Red Cross Societies towards the end of the nineteenth century, societies that played a major part in caring for the wounded during the war. The reverse shows a soldier receiving medical treatment with a nurse in attendance. The diameter is 34 mm and the condition Extremely Fine.
