1725 - William Wake, Archbishop of Canterbury (1657 - 1737) SOLD

This silver medal by Jean Dassier is the dedication medal to Jean's Church Reformer series (MI ii 462/73). The obverse shows the bust of William Wake, Archbishop of Canterbury, based on a painting by Gibson. The reverse carries an inscription in Latin that reads "These most truthful portraits of illustrious men, who have laboured for the revival and restoration of the true Christian religion and polite literature in Europe, Jean Dassier, a Genevese, offers, presents and dedicates to the Right Reverend Father in Christ, William Wake, Archbishop of Canterbury, Primate of all England and Metropolitan, 1725". The diameter is 42mm. and the condition is better than EF. The medal is very rare in silver. This medal has been SOLD.
