1730s - The British Worthies Series by Jean Dassier

At the time of Jean Dassier's second visit to England in 1729 the idea of commemorating the work of the countrie's great writers, philosophers, soldier etc., had been muted for some time. Jean Dassier began his series of eight medals in April 1733. Each medal shows the bust of the illustrious man commemorated and the reverse a design that illustrates either his work or monument. The medals are 41mm diameter struck in either bronze or silver. The medals for sale and their condition are show below. Medals show as NA are not currently in stock
