1925 - The Centenary of the First Railway in the World SOLD

This impressive Art Deco medal by Gilbert Bayes for John Pinches commemorates the centenary of the Stockton and Darling railway, the first railway in the world. The obverse show the conjoined busts of Edward Pease, industrialist and financier, and George Stephenson, Engineer, who were both responsible for setting up the railway. The reverse show Vulcan holding a model of the first 1825 locomotive and a Pacific class locomotive of 1925. The diameter is 76 mm and the condition of the medal and card box is superb. They are scarce in this condition. This medal has been sold.
