1553 - Christ's Hospital Founded SOLD

This beautiful silver medal by L. Pingo (1743 - 1830 was struck to commemorate the founding of Christ's Hospital in London in 1553 (MI i 60/16). Two boys in each ward of the school were appointed to examine the others in their religious exercises between services on Sundays. These boys were given this medal when they left the school. The lettering on the edge reads Will'm Millington 1876. The diameter is 34mm and the condition GEF. This medal has been SOLD.
