1553 - Christs Hospital, Marker's Prize SOLD

This beautiful silver medal by L. Pingo (1743 - 1830) was struck to commemorate the founding of Christ's Hospital in London in 1553 (MI i 60/16). Two boys in each ward of the school were appointed to examine the others in their religious exercises between services on Sundays. These boys were given this medal when they left the school. The lettering on the edge reads Ernest Edward Boyce (date unclear). The diameter is 35 mm and the condition better than Extremely Fine. This medal has been sold.
