1612 - Henry, Prince of Wales SOLD

This rare medal, thought to be by Charles Anthony, Royal Mint, commemorates the death of Prince Charles, eldest son of James I and brother of Charles I, in 1612 (MI I 200/29). The medal shows the bust of Prince Henry in armour with broad and stiff collar. The reverse carries Henry's armorial shield, the Latin Legend reads, 'Glory in the light of Honourable mind', the Prince's personal motto. It is believed that this medal was freely circulated amongst the Prince's friends. The diameter is 29 mm and the condition Extremely Fine. The medal has a good even tone. This medal has been sold.
