1562 - St Saviour's School, Southwark, Silver medal SOLD

This beautiful silver medal by W. J. Taylor was presented annually by the governors of the St Saviour's school, Southwark, to the most deserving boy (MI i 110/38). The school was built in 1562 during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I by Thomas Cure and John Bingham, saddlers to Elizabeth, and rebuilt in 1839 during the reign of Queen Victoria. The diameter is 43 mm and the condition better than Extremely Fine. The medal has a light tone and is contained in its original leather case. This medal has been sold.
