1704 - Battle of Blenheim by Boskam SOLD

This rare silver medal by Jan Boskam commemorates the Battle of Blenheim fought on the 13th August 1704 (MI ii 255/48). Victory was won by the Duke of Marlborough, general of the British, and Eugene, Prince of Savoy, general of the Austrians, against the French. The reverse shows the battlefield , with the Danube in the distance, and the Duke of Marlborough on horseback. The Latin legend on the reverse reads, "The French and Bavarians again defeated on the Danube, Marlborough commanding". The Latin legend in the exergue reads, "The immense army of the enemy destroyed, 1704". The diameter is 43 mm and the condition Good Extremely Fine. The medal has a pleasing tone. This medal has been sold.
